Hi, my name is Doug. I purchased this unique house on beautiful Whidbey Island Washington as a long-term investment in my family's future. I'm a Colorado native, but I lived in the Seattle area for nine years in my younger days. When I moved back home to Colorado in 2006, I always knew I would one day find a way to split time between my two favorite places.
I named this place The Owl House because there are usually owls hooting at night--sometimes two or three of them going back and forth.
Sitting on 2.5 partially wooded acres and well set back from any major roads, you'll find The Owl House and its resident owls (and frogs) to be a place of relaxation and beauty whether you are lounging in one of the hammocks or strolling the trail through the woods.
I love the islands of the Salish Sea, and south Whidbey Island in particular has a certain uniqueness to it. The locals say it's the "shortest distance to far away," and that's a great description. The house is just a quick ferry ride from the north Seattle suburbs and easy to get to from SeaTac airport, but it seems a world away. From the quaint little towns like Langley and Coupeville to the many beaches and forested parks to the working farms and wineries, Whidbey Island is an amazing place to be.
I know many of my guests love to travel to see and experience new places. I share that passion. I'm always planning my next adventure, whether solo or with family. We often are guests at short term rentals ourselves, and it's been as a guest at other rental properties that I learned a lot about what makes a great vacation rental. I hope I've created a sanctuary as relaxing and beautiful as some of the ones I've stayed in myself.
I really enjoy hosting fellow travelers, and I hope you'll be my guest.
